A butane lighter, I mean. And will it definitely explode, or only maybe, or probably not at all?
People have been known to fully recover from lightning strikes without any scars or anything. An exploding lighter in your pocket, though, could do some serious damage.
You are right, 80% of people who get struck by lightning survive. As far as the lighter exploding, it would depend on several factors. First, the lightning strike would have to pass through the lighter. Since the lighter is made of plastic, it is unlikely to do so. But the lighter cap is made of metal, so the lightning could possibly heat the lighter cap enough to cause the lighter to explode. If the lightning DID pass through the lighter (and through the butane inside it) it would most certainly explode.
